Thanks, I don't shy away from challenges and always like to try and experience it for myself.

People will always have their own opinion which I can respect. But I can't respect the ones with opinions that's never tried. I'll listen but it doesn't mean I'll follow.

It's like people who offer advise on marriage, yet they've never been married. People advise about kids, yet they have none. I'm open to criticism and judgment, however don't base theories without facts.

People will say, "You have to have soft water", "that Discus will not be able to compete with food", etc..etc...

However, well known breeders have bred in PH's in mid and high 7's?. My theory about PH's is as long as you keep your PH stable it's not an issue. You'll have more problems mimicking it's natural environment by trying to keep the PH that differs out your tap. My facts on this is being able to grow PBASS from 2" to 15+" in 7.8PH...

Also, how the hell in the world will a captive bred Discus that is born in PH in let's say 7.5-7.8 know anything about soft water...lol

As for food. My theory is, fish will aggresively eat provided they are healthy to begin with. People need to look and watch what they buy. If it's healthy it will eat regardless of what you have in there. My facts are, more fish in the tank, more sense of urgency to eat because of competition. How is one going to tell me that Discus can't eat when I see it in front of me that it's the first one up front and center along with the altums to eat?

That's the way I see it too. trial and error is what keeps most hobbies going.

I used to have a very friendly jack dempsey that I kept with my discus, along with a goldfish that grew to be about 8-12 inches in the discus tank, then my baby arowana ripped off all it's scales one night. What a mess that was in the morning.

Now in with my discus I have a 12" BGK, a senegal polytperus, 2 plecos (sail fin and king tiger), and a juvenile blue dolphin I'm growing out for my bigger tank. Keep it up man, loving your geo's and that discus is amazing.

I have heard though that angels are a carrier of a disease that will kill discus. Not sure how much truth there is to that as before I heard that claim, I did keep angels and discus together as well, only things to die then were the damn angels, as I can't keep them alive for more than a few months for some reason.

Stay bro, you'll just find yourself coming back...lol

"Monster fish keeping is a hella of a drug".......in a Rick James voice over..lol

hahah true that fish keeping is like drug u get addicted to it.
when i sell all my fish and things is better ill start up my old grow out tank and keep some fish for the time being dont know whatnto put in there still thinking.

Here's a few photos of the Discus & Altums front and center during feeding time. Even when the PBASS & GEOS are all around them....

So how does this show that they cannot compete for food? How does this show that they are stressed? How does this show that the community will not work?

Like I mentioned, the Bahia's temperament is unlike any other PBASS. They are very patient and tolerant PBASS. Even the big ones I've had in the past had different temperament than of my Azuls, Mono's Occe's, Tems, Orinos, Intermedia..

I would not try this with any other specie of PBASS other than Bahia.

Here is a video of the feeding..excuse the crappy cell phone video.
