My first EBJD

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Good looking fish, hopefully more blue comes out.

They are always Blue and don't know any other colors, except get more black spots when stressed. Its all on lighting and angles...and of course, Mood. Aha, unless you mean Darker Blue. But Light Blue is already blue regardless

are these ok with Oscars?

Lol, if you say it like that then everything is ok with anything. Now if we get to the nitty gritty then a 2" EBJ would not do so well with 2" Oscar, but a 4" EBJ should do well for awhile til the Oscar over eats and becomes fat and mean. With all that said anyone can do as they please.

However, I kept my EBJs with their siblings and eventually as time passed I had to put all the runts (pretty much only EBJs) in their own tank. Only 1 EBJ was dominant and is still outgrowing all the rest of the batch. Lemme show you the size difference btw Brothers of same batch.

Here are 2 smaller siblings you can tell by the pattern difference

Yes... Great posts everyone. Thank you for all the pics and info. My little monster could not swallow a mini Hikari Staple pellet when I first got him... Now its no problem. Its eating at least 3 per feeding. When I post updates(I will at the least post once a month) I will get a pic with it next to something so we can see growth.

Very Nice................thank you .
Do you think its a Male or Female ? At what age can you determine the sex of EBJDs ?

Thank you! It's crazy appetite makes me think male but I know some females can be greedy too. I have no knowledge of the sexing of ebjd. Maybe someone will comment on that?

Most ebjds are male...I think there are 2 ways to tell...one obvioisly is venting and two look at the dorsal fins...if they are rounded at the end then its female but if they are long and pointy I would say male
