My first fish rescue

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
hows the little dude doin?

update.

I did another tank upgrade from a 90g to a 125g. His color has returned to where it should be. He's living like a king now!

Here's a pic of when I set up the tank. It now has gravel and rocks...

Cool. He's almost textbook, but with a tiny mouth. Very neat fish. Good save.

HEY! Where did you get that aerator? I need one. My hose currently sports the outlet head of a Magnum HOT and it barely works.

Its just a ball valve attached to the end of the hose. You can find them in almost any hardware store.

Ball valve. Got it. Looks more effective than I would have thought a ball valve would be.

I'm debating if I should rescue a 6" Toadfish from a LFS. It was an unexpected item that came in with their Oscars. The store didn't know what it was until I told them. I'm not sure if I should get him though. I have no brackish tanks set up and I am not going to put it in with my Festae. I just hate knowing that it may die at the store in the wrong type of water. Should I set up a tank for the Toadfish and bring him home?

I think most of us would say "Yes." But are you totally psyched about him or will he soon be a burden? Never get a fish you aren't amazingly into because, after about three months, you will have lost at least 85% of that initial fascination. So be sure the math works out and 15% of what you like about him is enough to win your heart for good.

For the record, if he was free, I'd pick him up in a heartbeat.
