State of chaos
I went and had my water in my cycling 5 galon today so I bought a Blue Beta! Hes doing pretty well. He was really active in the bag, but hes resting on the gravel now, staking his territory. but hell dart away if you put your hand there. hes never seen water so clean and deep in his life:grinno::D

Congrats on the betta, they are often an under rated fish...

Great pick-up!

thanks. im really exited. i dont need a heater, right? and not very active fish when alone right? cuz he was active in the bag but now seems to be enjoying the bottom of the tank, unles you put your hand on the glass.
UPDATE: I put a mirror up against the tank, and...
I got a scardy cat! 2 minutes later hes hinding behind the filter... :D
But when I removed the mirror, he darted back to his corner really fast. Heck, hes the liveliest beta i've ever seen

They like temps around 78-80 degrees so if the room is cooler than that I'd add a heater. There's little heaters for 3-5 g tanks at Walmart for cheap.
I've got all my Betta boys in their own 5 g tanks. They always act so excited to have their 5 g 'condos' after having lived in cups at the store. I would imagine it takes them awhile to build up muscle tone, etc when you 1st put them into a 5 gal. Mine are real active and quite the little beggars :-)

good post turned sour: The beta has a TINY white fiber on the bridge of his nose. REALLY fine and tiny. what should I do?
