My first (four) yellow apple snails!

the eggs are out of the water line and most fish don't find them palatable, even when added to the water.

82 is a bit warm for the snails, it will greatly accelerate their life span and increase their growth which can cause really thin shells.

I think msjinkzd meant that the higher temps will shorten the snails lives? The high temp makes them age faster. Btw I have these snails too. And when I cleaned the sand I forgot one bucket in my basement. With 6 week old snails in a plastic dish, in a bucket 1/2 filled with wet sand. Basement isn't heated at all, really old house, maybe 50 degrees at the most. Anyway, I saw them 4 days later. They are still alive and look fine. I'm not a 'knowitall', I just like reading/sharing experiences. Good Luck, hope all goes/grows well!:)

they prefer cooler temps to warmer ones. I keep mine in an unheated tank. You are correct when what I meant is the warmer temps will shorten their life span.

Is it possible for an apple snail to attack another one? I woke up and found my yellow one on the wall of the tank with a blue one onits shelf.

I love apple snails. i have one, he's gettinmg pretty big.

they are mating (snorno)

... I really gotten myself a horny apple snail. So far it has climbed onto the back of all 4 of the blue ones...

the males are incorrigible. They will mate nonstop with any other snail, no matter the gender or species, lol
