My first ghetto pond.

Ok well I need a new base for my filter to sit on and i want some advice. Went out exploring in the yard and found some milkcrates and a pile of bricks. Im leaning more towards the milkcrate just because im worried the concrete bricks will leach something into the water, plus the milkcrate is black so it will blend in better.
I am open to ideas, so let me know what you think.

Yeah, I probably wouldn't use the bricks. If they've been sitting outside for a while there's no telling what they've been exposed to (chemicals, pesticides, etc.) and being so porous it'd be hard to clean them completely. The milkcrate, on the other hand, should clean up well with a good wash and, like you said, the black will make it blend in better. Go for it!

Well I've scrubbed down the milkcrate, took a bit of work but I think it came up ok.

Since I had to move the filter I decided to widen up some of the holes in the drawers so it would flow a bit better.
That, combined with having the filter out of the water, made the noise level a bit too high. My rooms already noisy as it is, I've got 4 tanks and one has a sump so i had to do something about it. I was gonna box the filter with some styrofoam but it looked like crap, then I decided to line the drawers with it. Im quite happy with the results:)

As well as reducing the noise I think it makes it look alot neater. This is what it looked like before;
