Just a question for everyone; Do you think I could get away with keeping 2 rtcs in this pond for a maximum of 6-7 months?

Redtails are a pretty rare find in Australia, someones got a 16" one for sale and im very tempted to buy it.

Too bad you dont live closer my brother got a 24 inch rtc he trying to sell.

seeing your thread almost makes me want to try out something like this, except i'd be way too worried about ruining my hardwood floors... or else i'd definitely do it, considering i already have a set or two of those storage units i could technically convert into a filter as well... by the way, i'm curious, did you seal off the draws at all? or are you not worried about any water leaking from the sides???

Either way, great setup for a cheap alternative...

Oh i ruined the floors looong before i put this pond in lol
I didnt seal the drawers because a) it would make maintenance impossible and b) if the water level in the drawers is high enough to spill down the sides then theres either not enough holes drilled in the bottom or the pump is way too strong and it wouldnt be filtering too well.
Plus ive got them sitting in the water anyway so if it does ever leak it will fall straight to the pond.

^ Ahhhhhh... thanks for the reply, i guess i should have realized that sealing the draws would have been a bad idea due to maintenance... but still a great idea for any one who needs a large tank on a budget...

my worry would be once it hit the levels below the waters surface, the drawrs would fill up and the flowing would stop as the water can escape anywhere under the water line.
