yeah I actually tried pfury to begin with. They said rhom or sanchezi. That's why when I posted here I left the sold as species unstated. I wanted an unbiased opinion. I have been perusing OPEFE and it looks like the RIO ARAGUAIA (Brazil) Morph or possibly a Sanchezi. It also looks a lot like a marginatus. I'm not sure. Perhaps it is indeed a marginatus. I hope it's not a rhom because I'd need to upgrade tanks to 100g or so for life. Not really looking to do that for a while.

the only thing about it being a rhom is OPEFE states that the common characteristic of rhoms no matter what the regional variant is a red eye, my dude doesn't have a red eye...

Note there is no hyaline edge present on the caudal fin? the band is present againt the caudal peduncle.. thus marking it marginatus and not rhom.. This fish is closer to a compressus then a rhom after the revisions.. Another way to see is just get some size on him and heal up his fins.. marginatus usally have a small extenion on the 3 leading rays of the tail fin.. The dorsal fin will have an extenion also.. Let me know what happens.. But between me and you, your much much better asking people that know a little something rather the most of the people here.. I dont know what happened to the major hitters here but it gets tiring trying to fix all the un-accurate posting that goes on in this subforum

I appreciate the analysis sir. I am new to piranhas and I'm sure I will have more questions. I thank you...

Its no problem that is the reason that we are all here.. I just have something with people giving out false information, that is why i get a little bugged out.. There is enough false info in LFS and members come here with the willingness to learn and we have tons of false information coming from every which way... especially when people get there first piranha last week and all of a sudden they know everything..:screwy: But in any case wenever you ask a question you might want to wait for like 20 something opionions..

wait are you asking me if the adipose fin posted in this thread is red or the pix i provided???
