Hello everyone.

I just got my first ever Piranha!

He's living with my VERY odd mix of fish, and doing absolutely great :)

Stock includes african cichlids, asian cichlids, asian catfish, SA/CA cichlids, and now my lil' dude "Swifty"

I just wanted to share a few pics of him, for ya'll to see, and hopefully you can give me some feedback on how he looks :)
Got him 2 weeks ago at 1,2" and now he is already breaking the 2,5" mark?!?!

Oh, btw. I heard a single Piranha would be very skittish and docile when not shoaling, but this guy roams the entire tank, all levels of it too, and nobody bullies him, not even the biggest cichlids! He never hides, and is already my favorite fish of the bunch! extremely active and very funny to watch, especially during feeding time! Some of the big cichlids will stuff theire mouths completely, to a point where they can't even close it, so what Swifty does, is he swims INSIDE the mouth of the fish and eats from theire mouthes, LOL :headbang2

ANYWAY, here he is:

Trouble, these guys need large schools with large tanks with good food and extreme filtration, an african cichlid tank doesn't have that to offer.
Sorry but, how do you know what i use to filter my tank? and even more so, how do you know what kind of food he gets? How do you know the size of my tank?

But i will give you that he is a single Piranha, and not schooling like Piranhas are meant to do. But if you could tell me why this spells trouble?

have the cichlids start to pick on the new guy yet? best of luck to keep this going for as long as possible

No, actually the piranha has been nipping a few fins :/

Thanks!

who knows, it may work with or without some casualties. good luck mate. guess at some time or the other we all wish to try different things, weird combos... looking forward to updates..

thats good I guess for the P :)
provide more hiding space for other tank mates will increase the chance for them to stay alive as the piranha get bigger.

Well, unless they are getting home-bred live food on a daily basis, large weekly water changes and the tank is at least 75g to properly house a school of 4-5 piranhas than it is going to spell trouble.
