my first ply build

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
the sides are inch think chip board the inside is getting fiberglasssed of course. the outside of the entire tank is getting kilz to seal it i believe it do much matter what the wood underneath is as long as it is well supported either way when there is that much water if the tank fails it fails all the same just making sure i am seasling it up really well and being very liberal on the resin

so today in nebraska......my tank sets under an auning outside until it is finished and last night it snowed the whole thing was covered in snow i have one layer of fiberglass in the whole thing if i get all the snow out and dry it out will it be ok????

Nice build. Not sure if the snow will ruin anything but I'm certainly jealous its hot as crap here. Even at 2am last night I was sweating like a fat man just standing around.

with the particle boar i will take pictures of the back side but i have her very very well braced i went oferkill on every part but the interior wood its definitly a work in progress

Does Snow in Nebraska melt into water?
and isn't this a particleboard tank WAITING to be 'glassed?, outside?

Read the label on the fiberglass resin, it might say what temp it needs to be to cure...I'm almost sure it isn't at a temperature that would allow Snow to stick...
and
It might say something like apply to clean DRY prepared surfaces...

You might wanna get it indoors, maybe like a heated garage/shop/the family room...

you already know what happens to wet particle board...Might just have to wait till next spring

If the resin didnt fully cure when it got wet, it never really will.. instead you will have white sticky spots all over it, or if the entire surface got wet, then the whole thng will look like that.... re-resin if you have to..... dont get the resin wet during the curing process......

thanks for the help it wasnt a huge snow the only snow that really stuck was was on the interior on the base and it that had two layers fully cured there were a few drips in there that i had spilt from putting layers on the back and sides
