My first SALTWATER tank!!!!!

I'm not trying to be a pain but your tank is far from ready or an anemone. I say this because I to was impatient and killed a fair share of them. Patients is key. Just because it's cycled doesn't mean it's stable. In six months you can start planning on an anemone. And what I was saying before wasnt negative. I've spent thousands of dollars to get to where I am with my 300 and 200 gallon systems. And I tried to skimp every where I could and ended up having to spend even more money getting the right stuff. So I'm not trying to be your dad. Just some friendly advice from some one whose been there.

So I should take the anenome out? That makes no sense to me. The tank has zero nitrates or trites. Zero ammonia, 1.024 specific gravity. I know you are supposed to wait a year but I wanted to get the anenome settled before I got corals. I have read countless articles on btas, and I am pretty sure I am ready for the challenge. Besides, if it does not make it it was only a twenty buck investment, not that big...

So you don't care at all about a living thing dying?
I think you'll be alright with the anemone anyway but if you DO want to wait then it's actually just 6 months, Not a year. Good luck!

No, I do care. I just can't take it back to my lfs. And what's the reason to wait six months? I also have no other tank to put it in as well.

Damn let the kid have fun, u just said u didn't do every thing by the book......I see planning and research involved. The main thing have fun with it.

If you want something to get intentionally stressed out about get a gf or wife....tanks are relaxing

You want to wait 6 months preferably a year before adding any sensitive inverts like clams nems or stony corals Sps. The tank isn't mature and stable enough for them. Your not testing things that are very important to them like iodine iodide alkalinity etc those are the things that swing in younger tanks and kills sensitive inverts. The things that stabilize these factors are only time or investing in a controller unit that monitors and doses to keep these things in check.

Also what's your lighting?

The reason they suggest waiting is the presence of micro fawna, flora, and bacteria (planktonic foods) that grows in the water column - this takes time, it is their food source. But seeings how your knee deep .........................

Anemones are carnivours feed it a silverside chuck every 2 weeks and run the lights as often as possible.

A 10 gallon saltwater tank is hard to mantain water wualtity i would get a bigger tank b/c they are easy to maintain.

I like the fact that you are letting the anomie get settled in before you get corals my adcise is that you get 1 cheap peice of coral and see if you are ready to go all reef.
