I decided to attach the panels 2" higher then the top of the stand to cover up the tanks plastic trimming. It'll look something like this once its all put together.

Then it got dark and I had to quit. More work tomorrow...

The stand looks good. Good idea to put a lip all away around the top edge. It should look great, but what about the gap all the way around the bottom? Are you going to put molding there or ????

Gap? The bottom 2x4 of the skelaton will be exposed by 2". It doesn't look bad at all imo. I dont think adding trim is necessary.

Anyway I did a little more work today. Here's some pics.

First coat of flat black is on. I'll finish it with a coat of semigloss in a few days.

I was blessed with some nice weather today so I decided to put the final coat of semigloss black on. The first "flat" coat was sprayed on but I thought I might use a roller for the last coat. It came out with a nice texture, and not to shiny not to flat, very pleasing to the eye. I hope to get my uncle over later today to help carry this beast downstairs. I kinda regret using 3/4" cupboard doors for the skin. It must weigh close to 200lbs. Strength comes at a cost I guess.

If we get it downstairs today I'll have some more pics of it with the tank on top. Stay tuned...

With the help of 3 strong guys we got the stand and tank downstairs. I still have to install the doors and build a canopy but otherwise the majority of the work is done.

Filling begins

Full tank shot with lights off. Still a lot of bubbles on the glass. The stand makes great storage for beer cases lol.
