java fern attached to that driftwood also works very well, its a really hard plant to kill, same with amazon swords, those however you do need to plant into the gravel, but you'd only need one plant there on right side where its empty and overtime it will balance out your tank nicely, plus provide shelter and hiding places for fish. my fish always sleep inside those plants. banana plants and anubias are also great as mentioned before.With a planted tank, make sure that you have light bulb thats is somewhere between 5000k and 6700K, you can get them cheap at home depot, anything in that K range is ideal. keep it on no more than 8 hours a day. some split the period into 2- 4 hour sessions. do a 30% water change every week, it will stimulate growth of the plants, and prevent algae growth.
