My Fish Room Log

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Bought a second rack and moved the six 10 gallons off of the first rack and the ten gallon off the floor in the dining room to it as well.

The lady at Edsal told me that Home Depot can special order any of the shelves in their catalog. I'm considering getting an 8' one for the 135 and 110.

Picking up 6 more tanks 20-60 gallons Saturday or Sunday.

The cost of materials, my time, and needing it right now. I'm basically lazy, so if for no other reason; open box, assemble, cut a few boards, done. I also like the trim look of the steel stand as opposed to an overbuilt double decker stand.

Ever notice on planted tanks that there's always something to close up filter intakes; loose leaves/plant matter. I did some work on the 90H tonight to get rid of all the loose plant material and throwing it away instead of trying to plant it.

Go figure that right now I need some Indian fern to send to one last person and I have none to go out. I had sent out close to 500 plantlings during September/early October. I must admit that I've been a bit lazy with dosing ferts and dealing with the plants that aren't in the 90H. Plants really don't do well without light.

I'm considering putting the 210 on its stand until I can get around to mounting it in the wall. This would get it out of the middle of the floor which is kind of a good idea. It's just finding people that will actually show up to help put it on the stand.

The 65H is going to get moved over to the rack with the 10 gallons on it. At this point, it's all about reclaiming space.

I was trying to decide on which flooring I want to put in the fish room and laundry room. I saw the garage tile that interlocks. I think that's going to be the best option. The unfinished concrete slab still kicks up a lot of dust. I wish I had insisted that they put the smooth finish on it.

The rack gives me so much versatility. I don't think I could find anything better and stronger for less than $125. Just this one rack has 10 tanks on it and still has room to spare.

Top row:

35 - 8 Herichthys sp. turquoise growouts
20H - pair Aequidens portalgrensis (male is really nice with hump on his head)

Middle row:

10 - 10 Endler's livebearers, 10 red cherry shrimp
10 - 3 pairs blue ram growouts
10 - 12 exCichlasoma bocourti growouts
(4) 10 - 1 Nandopsis haitiensis each

Bottom row:

65H
20 Smokey angels
6 Black ghost angels
unkown mottled pleco
assorted male guppies
7 harlequin rasboras
6 longfin blue leopard danios

The other rack is going to hold the 75 on bottom and 90H on middle.

Projects for this week:

Finish prepping SW system to receive live sand

Clean and hook up venturi skimmer

Move 75 to bottom of Rack #2

Move 90H to middle of Rack #2

Modify lights on 110 to work on 210

Clean and setup 6 new tanks (most likely getting tomorrow since didn't get a call last night or today)

Move CO2 system to fish room and hookup to 90H and 210

Move fish table and chairs to fish room

This will only leave the 110 in the dining room with the festae pairs and jaws the rainbow shark.

BONUS: LFS is taking the blood parrot pair on trade. Yay, I finally can get hybrid free!

I asked the guy at the LFS to get some more large fat sleeper gobies, so hopefully he'll get a few more good-sized ones that I can add to the two I have. Once the plecos are gone, I'm going to make that 75 brackish for them. I'm thinking about getting some ruby scats to go with them. Maybe an archer and mono too.

Very nice fish room, Spits on my two 7.5 gals, lol, Can't wait until I get my damn 75 gal.

Awesome setups. Work to be proud of. Good to see a little good came from Katrina.
