My fish room renovation project

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Update:

This past weekend we made a real wet mess testing the flow capacity of our improvised over flow design. Good news is we were 90 percent successful. The process really helped inform design refinements we will be implementing in them. The last apparently absent parts have been ordered and this next week should FINALLY see the actual beginning of constructing/plumbing our super sump. My furnace has taken a dump and a few electrical problems have reared their heads as when all our tank heaters kick on to keep tanks warm when the house is cooling off they were throwing breakers. After the furnace exhaust blower gets replaced(just waiting for the new one to arrive) then we can get back to tanks. Happy MLK day!

New tank... Dont judge my lack of self control :screwy::p

My question is what is this costing in water and electricity bills. I have something similar in mind and was wondering what it is costing you so far?

For what we are running, about 50 per month, probably a little more now for heat in the tank due to winter weather. If you Google about it you can find how to calculate.

Ok, haven't actually gotten around to repairing the 265 yet but I did make it out to grand rapids this weekend to pick up a 300 gallon tank from craigslist for 650 dollars. The gentlemen who sold it was very accommodating. Its a full system with sump and everything and it all snapped together in an hours time only needed to replace the O-rings. The reason I got this tank was more than just because of the deal. We needed a large tank to move a bunch of fish into while we setup our sump system. Ok, enough words...Pictures!

It needs to cycle so you'll notice several seasoned powerhead and sponge filters in the tank to assist in this. I also need to add another bag of sand so I can move over my plants. The tank needs to be buffed again for sure, previous owner let algae grow on the plexi and his pleco's and cichlids scrape it off so its kinda scuffed, it was then buffed by the guy who sold it to us but its isn't completely done and when filled at the right distance you feel like you are looking through jello. Sadly our last pbass got pinned last night by a rock when moving fish and he looks like he isn't going to make it. :( all 4 pbass gone.
