yesterday on CL I found a 300g setup for $250- a great price, but what made it better is my pal chester(thehero) has liked my 220g since we picked it up- heres the link on the 220g deal http://www.monsterfishkeepers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=242174
so I call chet to tell him that it was his lucky day, he could have the 220g for $250- and then Im off to get the 300g-
the guy had 3 tanks- his smallest was a 180g, then the 300and a 400 the guy and his family were super cool- and with all those monster tanks, I was pushing MFK on him too
the tank was a running reef when I got there- and several hours later I was on my way with my 300g acrylic with center overfow, the worn but functional stand and canopy, one 50g garbage can of sand and one of live rock, a glass 55g for a sump, all the plumbing, 5g's of bio-balls, glass tank lids, and 2 water pumps, a mag18 and a rio 26hf, both under a month old

all that stuff for pretty much free- I know gas and whatever, blah, blah, blah, but this deal rocked out- my plan is have the 300g up and running at my place, and the 220g going at chets by the end of this weekend

ok I guess I forgot to post the thread earlier- but anyway, me and chester just got done cleaning, sanding, and repairing for the night- Ill take some pictures in the AM

But in a way.. its not " a free 300g tank"

Still pretty cool deal i'd say..

awesome cant wait to see it up and running.

Congrats bro!! Your going freshwater right? Sounds like your jardini might have even more room. Cant wait to see it setup.

jon, but in a way it is free, because early last year, I had a 50g that I didnt have a use for- I traded it even up for the 220g and then came the 300g- so whatever that 50g cost(if anything) -minus the mileage that was put on the tanks is what it cost me

Nice pick-up, that sounds like a heck of a deal!

This is my free 300 I picked up a few years ago. It didn't cost me a penny except for the diesel I burned going to pick it up. It was purchased with grant money by the university veterinary school and one of the stipulations was that it couldn't be sold. It could be given away for educational purposes...

This is the tank in the lobby of my school. It came with a really nice stand, too! :headbang2
