My GATF is finally on pellets!

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Oh man.. I remember when I had a lacerdae, it almost bit a wide bar SD into half. I had to intervene. I would have kept that guy but his growth rate was faster than my ATFs so had to let him go. I want to get another lac, eventually.
Lacs seem to be the hardest to come by now... True lacs anyway lol

While I was gone for 3 days on a business trip I added two tinfoil barbs around 6" just at dithers since I removed my blackberry silver dollar and datnoid. When I came back I had to do an emergency water change.. Both of them got killed and eaten to only 1/3 of the body floating at the surface. Netted them out and fed to the feral cats around the neighborhood. I thought the tinfoils would be ok since I had my blackberries in there that were similar size.. But nope, just became big feeders real quick.

Not to derail but following up on picture of another tinfoil that just got destroyed. I just put this one in and got destroyed within a matter of minutes... I don't think any dithers under 10 inches will work at this point.

Is this done by the wolves, ATFs or Dorado?

Interestingly, those injuries I saw from my ATF comm are mostly on the mid section of the body.

On the other hand, my Hoplias comm tank saw more split tail fins. :(

Back to topic, I noticed my ATFs are pretty light eaters. Even when kept together with other predatory fishes, they know when to stop eating be it live feeders or fish slices.

To encourage growth I am resorting to twice a day feeding at the moment.
