Every couple of weeks I'll clear off about half the surface of duckweed and he's more skittish until it recovers the surface. I definitely see what you guys have all said about them being spooky.

Agree about the pellets, I'm thinking they're behind his growth for sure.



Thanks, it's pretty tough to get good pics with all the vegetation, looking to move him in another 6 weeks or so. Hopefully will get some better shots without all of the debris in the water.

forgot to post these up from last weekend.

week 7
not sure if his dorsal is supposed to be like this or if it's deformed. At first I thought it was just where the rays changed thickness but the bigger he gets the less sure I am about that.


the hook on the bottom lobe of his caudal just seemed to appear overnite


Weird how their lips are grooved to accomodate the teeth from the opposite jaw...makes sense I suppose, would suck to bite yourself with these chompers


I'll update one more time next weekend but he seems to be getting spookier about the flash so I might just do monthly shots after that.

looking great! the kink unfortunately, won't go away. i'd get it fixed when the atf's still small, but that's really if you're dam anal about it's appearances(like me).

Bigger then I have he'll end up in a 10x4x3ft but in all honesty it will be too small for him eventually.

Yeah that's what I think. I would like to put one in a 12x24x4 or something around there. Stock it with koi for him to munch.
