Hystrix are in my opinion the cutest rays of them all. With their devilish high set eyes and their little paddle tails. Oh I love them so much!
I couldnt agree more, they are so chunky, cute is a great adjective to describe them.Cant believe the interest in this thread,i new there was a few people out there that admired this species but not this many!!!
Heres a picture of the father as requested, like i said hes only 7inches across the disc but he has very large claspers,he doesnt look too bad does he,hes at least 12 years old

How many pups did you have last time? How many do you suspect this time? She looks filled!

She had just the one first time, the one photographed on this thread, the second time she had 2 stunning pups but they came about 3 weeks early, they were born with quite large egg sacs attached,i didnt have chance to move them before the sac burst,i lost them both over a two day period......heart breaking!!! they were so perfect. This is the reason the male is now separated from his female,im sure the constant harassment brought on an early birth.....you live and learn.
I reckon theres four in there this time,i hope im right....we will see.

No i havent had trouble with cloudy eyes in my Hystrix,my Ph is between 7.0 and 7.5, havent tested the hardness for years, just feed well and work hard on the water changes.
