my greatest walmart find

well one thing that i can mention is my family has been in the aquarium hobby for bout 20 years now an my mom is the head manager over the pet supplies which includes the tropical fish. an they do get cared of. an she also gets a 10% discount off the $5 for the fish lol so its basiclly a steal.

My wal mart just got parrots in a couple of weeks ago it was about a week before it looked sickly and was stuck to the filter. I might of bought if it wasn't a hybrid

yea i think the coolest thing we ever got in except for the green puffer fish an the african cichlids would be the eels or the dragon fish.

my walmart has no fish, they have tanks for them but, they all are too lasy and they get the fish and about 2 days later they are dead, im talking about 100s of fish dead, i worked there, they cought people on camra dumping stuff into the tanks like bleach!! i don't know what there planing to do but dang stupid people

55+ or 40 gallon breeder.

It is a good price, but is it really a fish you want? You don't currently have the right tank for it (though it will be ok in the 20 for a couple of months, or until the convicts kill it). Does it fit into your future plans as a fishkeeper? Think hard about all this before even buying a "steal." I recently turned down the chance to buy a gourgous polleni about 5 inches long for 10 buck cause I don't really have a place for it, and I have nearly 600 gallons of water available to me.

Impulse buys have ruined many good fishkeepers.

I agree with the above poster. Just because the fish is a good price, that doesn't make it the right fish for you. It is both incompatible and too large for both of your tanks. Unless you already have a tank of the sizes previously specified, I wouldn't get it.

On the subject of Walmart fish... The walmart around me has less than perfect stock and conditions, but that doesn't mean that they all do. I'm sure your mom does a good job :)

i got my parrots at wal-mart even got my yellow lab there too.all 4 fish are beautiful.and those parrots have to be the slowest growing fish i have seen so far

Convicts will not attack parrots, yet i haven't seen a cichlid that attacks parrots.
And 20 gallons is ok for parrots because they barely grow, but definantly not big enough for a cichlid that grows to 10 inches or more.
