My green house for fish

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Great work Severum1, a very productive day. Still love those Meridionalis, pity I cannot find them here in Australia. I too have emptied my pond I started last spring(after being inspired by yours) to remove fish for upcoming winter. My Green Terrors(Gold Saums) were absolutely beautiful, I did not lose one fish.I could not believe the health/size and colour of these fish after only a few months(summer) in the pond. My vallis plants have spread nicely and appear to have successfully "filtered my pond" although I did suffer some green water issues as the pond gets too much sun, this obviously had no ill effects on the fish. I don't have digital camera so cannot do pictures, but I'll definately be ready next year with camera in hand. I'll be leaving convicts in the pond to see if they can survive the winter(not too cold here). You've again inspired me to enlarge the pond for next year, I'll plan it all winter and I'll attempt to set up black plastic tubing for heating. Good luck with your project, keep up the good work and keep those updates coming.
cheers

Are statements like this one that make me going.

For the green water you must had more floating plants. In places not to cold the people can do that. Maintain a great number of diferent species ouside.

Regards

Keep the pics and update coming. Wow really nice to see the changes in your wonderfully landscaped ponds. Nice fishes. too. Thanks for keeping this one going.

Amazing Gil! Simply amazing!

any update on the rays and the pond...

Well, continuing with the weekend progress, I made a new experience for the future prototype of wind turbine:screwy:

This new phase was the construction of the blades. After studying and seeing how people do them I decided to start with small ones. Just for trying. I've done it with some material that I had there.

I cutted in half

I've made a fantastic and aerodinamic design of the blades:cry:

And here they are

Done

Then I just grab them to the wheel

The result was encouraging.

With just a litle bit of wind, something that was difficult to find this weekend, and it runned with a brutal speed. But there was a small a problem, it didn't have the strength to turn the belt that connects to the engine. The friction was too much and the blades to small.

But I didn't give up.:D

I bought a PVC pipe with a bigger diameter

Then I made the markings, with help, because alone it wasn' easy

and lets cut

They were too large. Bigger then the wheel. So i had to improvise

I will have to find a piece like this one, but in metal to be much more resistant.

Then I putted the blades in place

And the work finished

Here working

and the readings

Don't forget that the wind wasn't much, but still enough to rotate the blades.

Conclusions and considerations that I remember at this point:
- The weight of the blades is something to consider;
- There should be a very strong support;
- It's going to give a lot of work to implement.

But I will not quit. It can be done.

Finally

What do you think?
