You might be thinking of the difference between gold/silver saums and stalsbergi. I'm not sure about the differences in head shape, but scale patterns are definitely different.

OP, great looking fish! Makes me want one again.

The Staslbergi is the true first "Green Terror" that was imported. The Gold and Silver Saums are thought to be separate species and look like it because of the scale patterns when compared to the Stalsbergi. Here's a link on the subject: http://cichlidnews.com/issues/2011jan/andinoacara.html
