this will be my 3rd tank and my 3rd unintentional way of getting my girlfriend pissed off!! :naughty:

anyways...the tank will be a 52 gallon, 36'' X 18'' X 18.5''... although the tank isn't ''monster sized'' the inhabitant will be a monster... for those of you who are familiar with a gulper catfish.. u know what im talking about:drool::drool:

if u are not familiar with the gulper catfish i suggest u at least watch some vids of them on Youtube! there's some pretty good entertaining ones! the gulper cat maxes out at 10 - 12'' so i will not be upgrading...unless all my fish in my 120 gallon die all at once..:screwy::grinno:

for now i will only be getting one gulper cat...if i feel the need to get another i may.. ive done my homework about the fish for over a month now. however, im no pro on the gulper cat so any advice related to setup would be very much appreciated.

Filtration wise i was thinking AC 110
lighting would be a small 24'' 12 watt coralife
heater i was thinking of buying one of those new Fluval ones.. still not sure.. if not im gonna go with the Fluval Tronic with heater guard.
i will have a black background just like all my other tanks.

my idea for decor is too have 2 long, large and bushy fake plants on both sides of the tank. as for substrate..none...im going with slate tiles!

now heres what im still contemplating... should i put in a decent sized drift wood center piece? it would make the tank look alot more shiek and give refuge to the gulper cat.

i will be doing updates with real pictures soon, so subscribe and/or stay tuned if ur interested in the final outcome.

alright last thing.. here my simple but sweet blue print. im open to any suggestions and all comments.

thanks

Nice , I love gulpers! Id buy some but my Bichirs would not be very happy with me.

Awsome plans! There was recently a picture thread on tiled tanks you can search for. They may have talked about the safe kinds of tile to use.

from what I know from being in construction I wouldnt count to much on granite being safe Actually it is worse than regular concrete. years ago in the granite mines people that worked there were dying all the time so from what I heard the granite is more high in silica than we know

Sounds like its going to be a nice setup :)

thanks, i think so too :D

anyone have any thoughts on an appropriate size for the driftwood center piece???

the tank is 36'' X 18'' X 18.5''H

I've followed your threads about a Gulper because I want one about as bad as you do. What I don't understand though is why everyone seemed to agree that a 3' x 18" tank was big enough if they get to a foot long. Is it because they don't move around very much?
I can't wait to see your setup when it's done, I know you've been very excited :)
