There is nothing wrong with keeping the fish as long as they eat them. Whats so different then eating a burger. The thing they put the cows threw is a 100 times worse then that. I agree it is more humane to have a live well but you have to remeber 90% of the people they clean the fish do it while they are still alive atleast they were probably dead before that. And besides it sounds like you do it for a sport anyway not to eat. And i find it hard to believe that keeping 4 fish to eat will hurt the population. And i promise your state keeps an eye on things like this there are regs for a reason.

i think its best to not even fish at all if you feel this way OP. i mean think about it. sometimes your actually harming the fish by fishing them then releasing them thinking all is going to be alright. that fish you caught and released prolly got injured by the hook. it swam away fine but in a few hours it might of died. i hope you dont used live bait. cuz you just tortured and drown the worm to its death dying painfully and then letting the fish eat the worm while possibly alive...thats terrible!

i'd really love to discuss this nonsense about a single mother taking care of 9 kids off of 11 bucks an hour and only 40 hours a week (i'm sorry, that is not happening without assistance unless the standard of living is EXTREMELY low where you're at) but this thread has been derailed enough. Back to original topic

the truth is most of the ops thread he's always come off as kind of eeyore to me. sometimes he makes really great threads with good topics that strike up a conversation but other times they're self moping and condescending of other people. this is one of them. you express your concerns/feelings/thoughts and why you have them and then you move on. today it's fishing and taking legal size females, another day it was not having a big boat and big tank and all the great things he wanted earlier in his life, before that it was how public places can have nice show tanks but if one fish is sick/not visually perfect it ruins the whole tank for him etc etc etc. i'm sure if he had gone about things with a positive attitude instead of woe is me people would have come at him differently.

Jeez is this thread still going? give it a rest people, if you don't like fishing, don't do it. And as for fish survivalbility when cought and released, its pretty high as there have been studies done, unless the fish has been badly foul hooked or took the hook down its throte they are no worse for ware.

I have actualy cought a fish in the river here that looked like a shark had a go at it, nearly bit it in half but its gave a real strong fight and looked healthy, they recover and heal up incredibaly fast.

As for live bait such as worms being in pain, jeez grow up, you just need to see it as feeding the fish, the fish get a free feed, you get a picture and the great feeling of catching it then you rlease it and all is good.

OMGLMAOWTFBBQ!!!1

I'm thinking I might take the rest of the day off to go BIG BASS fishing. Who's with me???

I'll meet you at the lake with a 12pk

i respect everyone's opinion, you're entitled to it

only thing we can't argue is the rules. if the fish anyone caught is within the size and quantity limit, i think we shouldn't judge

don't matter if to me if the fish is kept on a string or in a live well or in a bucket or killed right away.

i don't see a big deal, but that's just me. i personally tie fish to a string at the lip myself, didn't think that would upset anybody

btw, i dont' practice catch and release because i eat all my fish. if i don't, i know plenty of people who do. i hardly ever buy fish to eat, i prefer eating what i catch. only fish i buy to eat is like, salmon, canned tuna and things like that because i can't catch them myself

and i always have and always will keep all large mouth 5 pounds and up. for consumption as well as to show it off. my family have fished the same lake for 20 years. we have quite a few fish mounted as well as deer antlers and things like that

i see nothing wrong with that

Redearsunfish was no different than LBF to me. Always whining and crying about something. LBF got banned for it is the only difference. Not trying to be mean....just sayin...
