Do you think this would work ?

If not by using an overflow maybe a pump to return the water back into the pond from the tank so the tank doesnt overfall and water goes every where on the floor .

Sorry for the dodgy picture and labels , if you dont under stand it please say and i will try to explain a bit better for you all .

If that overflow box on the fish tank is the return into the pond, y not just get an acrylic fish tank tank and just cut out "teeth" in the side that the water will return into the pond

I'll make a sketch of what I mean in like 10 min

Because i already have the tank that will be going on top of the pond and thought the overflow thing would a be good cheap way to return the water back into the pond .

Hi. You might want to elevate the pond pump a little off the bottom or use a pump with a float switch. That way if murphy's law strikes* you will have some water left in the tank for the fish. ;)

Also, it seems kind of inconvenient to have all of the mechanical filtration.. the stuff you have to take out to clean.. in the bottom of the barrel. ;)

* the hose to the filter breaks or a dog chews on it ...

good Luck,
Ellie

This will be in a shed , not in the house , ( dog wont be aload in the shed ) .

If what you are saying is that the filter is above the bottom line of the pond , not on the floor the filter will be on the floor when i do plumb the filter in , thats just my dodgy drawing that makes it not on the floor with the pond .

Well anyway here's my idea
