Because i already have the tank that will be going on top of the pond and thought the overflow thing would a be good cheap way to return the water back into the pond .

are you gonna make the overflow? Cuz most overflow boxes are $50 minimum

Make as its a lot cheaper to make and then i can make it to what ever size i need it too be .

I got it now, I just missed the fish in the tank first time round. Made my reply not really insightful.

Just out of intreast , What did you write .

I am not bothered if it was good or bad im just been nosey .

Ah the famous English Shed pond :grinyes:

The over flow will work  Either way but depending on your pump size and or the size of the upper tank... you could have some very un-impressed smaller fish so you'll want to have a way of limiting the flow through the small upper tank and allow for some bypass to go straight to the main tank

Just my Opinion of course :D

I love stealing ideas from different fish keeping. If your going to put it in a shed why not run a bottom drain to the filter, the pump as the return, it's got to be easier and less of a headache? Sorry I've got my pond head on, I'll sketch something

Just that it might be easier if you just tip the tank rather than worry about an overflow and have the water spill over the side. It'd make it a bit hard to keep fish in it without some odd mesh lid or something.

So what you are saying is to split the outlet from the flter so one goes in the tank and a secend straight into the pond . So the force of the water goingto the tank wont be as strong and upset the fish in there . ?
