125 is not a large tank. This is a baaad idea. Good luck

It would be only for these two fish.. but if you all think it is too small for them i will just go with one fish in it..

I Don't mean to squash your hopes, but we are talking about 2 large agressive cichlids who have not grown out together.

I'm all for trying things out - I have a 13"Midas and 8-9" Dovii in a 300gal. I'm keeping an eye on this, but I have my doubts that even in this large of a tank it is going to work out. I might get lucky though. :D

I really appreciate you squashing my hopes.. this is what i posted for..to get an honest opinion and being i like both fish very much i am heeding your warning .. i will leave one by it self and add the other.. maybe give each 6 months in the larger tank..by switching off.. what else would be safe to add .. synodontis? Common Pleco ?? what would you suggest since both of these guys have been alone as far as i know..they are in their own 75gal now.. and nothing else is in the tank with them.. so when the one goes in the 125gal what do you think would be a safe species to add with it???

sorry...but a 125 is a large tank.If both released in the tank at the same time, they have no territories to claim so i dont think their would be much agression

you may get lucky, provide caves or territory markers on either side of the tank with some drift wood to kinda break up the eye contact it may work.

I have a better question for you at the moment that no one seemed to asked.

How big is each fish? Is one alot bigger then the other?

Let's agree to disagree.

There are no hard and fast rules about what might work. A Pleco is usaully fine, but kind of boring and messy. Synodontis would probably work - although there are lots of species of synos.

I think a pair of convicts would be a good choice with enough hiding places - I had a pair in my 90 with my large Midas with no problems... Introduce the Cons first of course.

Silver dollars might work as well, add some movement to the tank. Get a school (4-6) and make sure they are at least 4"

Raphaels would probably work - I find my striped more active than the spotted though.

There are quite a few options.
