My Jag and My RD...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
hummm 9 inch Jag and 11 inch RD. Well that RD is about to start tapering off in size and the Jag is still well on his way to doubling his. Hummm, thats not to far apart in size, obviously the RD will have the weight advantage right now. Within a few months they would probably even up in size, maybe at about 13 inches a piece im guessing. Wow, hard to say, they are both pretty large already and with the RD being adult, it may be less apt to share. Well anyway, like I said, good luck, hopefully it works out for you.

I just measured the jag again and he is close to 10.5 inches..but long and thin and the RD is close to 11inches but very chunky and thick.. I think when the time comes i will just put the divider down the middle on a permanant basis and this way i can free up the two 75 gal and add maybe some angels or african cichlids..for those tanks... so if i do this with the divider what can i add in with these two that would not be in jepardy? I know it would have to be as big.. but say would a large syndontis be safe.. any ideas???

as far as adding things with these big guys, hummm try some dithers like silver dollars, red hooks or something. Maybe some convicts to let them chase around instead of each other. Should be a nice looking tank though, I dont know about the divider because then each fish would effectively have less gallons then they did while in the 75 you know. But put something in the 125 first, like convicts or some silver dollars, or both and then dumb in the big boys. Some pim's would do good. Im not to sure on which ones grow to what size but there seems to be alot of catfish people on the site who can help with that.

Maybe some equal sized bichirs would work in there, look good too.

well thank you for all the ideas.. I will make sure they have tons of soft rocks and hiding places and try it.. and do as you suggested by setting it with a few other fish first.. I think the jag and the RD would add alot of color.. if this does not work out i will buy small baby Jag and rd and throw them in together and let them grow together..sort of have it in my head to try and use these kinds as tank mates..thanks again for your help.

I'm assuming this fish tank is 6ftx18inches right? So you wnat to divide it in half and give each fish 3ftx18? Then add tank mates. Come on!

Seriously, do you think that sounds like a good idea?:WHOA:

This is a bad idea period. It's ok to express emotion. There is no name calling here. Nothing inappropriate at all.

yea most are 6 ft long.come on.Its considered beyond a normal tank people keep in their house due to its size.I kno its pretty common on the forum for a monster fishkeeper, but how many people on average keep 6 ft long tanks these days, that dont love aggressive fish.

I would add one baby jag of each sex and two RDs.. babies.. have them grow up in the 125and in that case there would be no divider.. the divider was only going to be used for the big rd and the big Jag.. but they may not work out together..i know i got side tracked when i mentioned babies growing up and pairing off.. sorry.

very nice jag
