I heard all kind of stories about jardinis being killers etc, mine is completely peaceful, he has NO killer instinct at all.

There have been fish he doesn't like, mainly a texas cichlid, he used to chase it but do nothing.

He doesn't even eat feeders. I've been power feeding him on fresh beefheart, fresh prawn, gut loaded mealworms, live river shrimp etc, but he has never eaten or killer another fish.

I'm not sure how big he is, never stays still to measure him, I think around 7.5 inches and he's starting to thicken up and show nice colours/tones.

I use his tank to quarantine feeder platys for my little snakehead :D He doesn't touch them.

He is in there with fish ranging from 2 inches to 9 inches and he doesn't bother any of them. And when I first bought him I thought he'd be fine with my channa, I was even a little concerned he would hurt my channa. The channa hid for a day the suddenly darted out and terrorized the jardini and took a chunk out of his tail. I had to quickly setup a divider and buy another tank.

I'm not complaining though, I think it's good that I have a community jardini, means i can mix whatever fish I like in there.

really? Was it that dramatic a change? Was there no indication of him being mean before that?

WHat was he like when he hit 12 inches?

He was pretty mellow, had him in my 90 gallon breeder with some cichlids I was growing out. Then one day, dead cichlids. I dont even feed feeders, so Im not sure if he would of eaten them or not.

wow, one day he just killed all your cichlids? Were they much smaller? Were they ripped up or just bullied to death?

not to sure about jars but asians go through a agressive spell when they get to 12-14inch as they seam to feel threaturned buy fish around the 7-8inch mark but seam to grow out of it

I think that is pretty much the general consensus of everyones experience with them. They are mellow and possibly even on the side of being a punk and around the 12 inch mark they get agro. I have one coming in today 4-5". I am going to try and keep him with other fish from the start and see if it helps.

uza - I hope so because now he's with mainly smaller fish. Hopefully he will never see them as a threat. He happily hangs out with a 4 inch peacock bass, 4/5 inch giant snakehead, an 5 inch senegal bichir that is a surface dweller.

Hopefully my micropeltes will get used to these fish and never kill them too.

i have only kept one jar

i cant keep a tank without a aro in so when i was waiting for the delivery of my 1st asain aro a few years ago i got a small jar to fill the gap

i got the jar at around 7inch and it was very peacful for the time i had him even
with other fish

buy the time the asian aro arived in the UK the JAR was around 10-11inch and i gave it to a freind of mine and after 3weeks of being kept with 3 x blood parrots he had killed 2 of them but lived happy with the last one for another 6 months before he killed that one
