lol.. garter snake...i think smmfish was concerned about feeding in the cage cuz the snake asociates any tank interaction as feeding and then when you go to pet him he runs away cuz theres no food or he strikes you.. :/ main reason in feeding outside the cage

Correct!!! I guess that is the way I was taught to feed with all my previous snakes, so that is the way I do it. Better safe than sorry.

I think all that stuff about the snake overreacting and automatically thinking you've got food every time you open the cage is overblown. Every time you take the snake out and move it to another container for feeding, it's going to get excited and then you have to deal with moving the just-fed-but-still-in-feeding-mode snake back into its cage, and that's when you're most likely to be bitten or even just stress out the snake and cause it to regurgitate. All my snakes eat in their cages and it's personally never cause me any problems.

To each their own I guess.

Do u just feed reptiles to the king?? I had a full grown adult cali king for 4 years and it ate whatever (mice, small rats, eggs and so on) but it usually best to feed rodents at least 95% f there diet,

i feed him rodents, and once in awhile if i can get my hands on somthing else. i do it.

What type of egg do you feed him?

Is it a california king snake or a flordia king snake.. i think its a claifornia king because i had a flordia and it was yellow and bvlack and i had a clai and it was white and black
