thanx, i have a 8x4x2.5 indoor pond i am about to construct....then when i move into a house on i will build a 10x10x3.5...i figure the 8' will last them for a while then after the 10' is up and going i will use the 8' for my ray breeding...i just think i am going to have a hell of a time moving this 180gal, the 8' pond, 3 55gals, and a 20gal...i think i may rent a truck...

Moving lots of big fish and equipment is always a nightmare! Good luck with that and the build.

thanx, as for the build i plan to have "log cabin" siding on it to look like i made it out of logs...as for the move i will try to use a friends 40 breeder to temp hold some fish till the big tank is filled and use the 180gal till i move so i can set the pond up in the new house to put these beasties in with as little b.s. as i can...

Okay, that's some fast growth rates even for TSN. What are you feeding them and what temperature are you keeping them at?!?

Very nice! Incredible growth on those Cats!

Wow that's very fast growth rate for TSNs. What do u feed them? Macdonalds?

thanx, and i feed a mix of things...market shrimp(shell on), tilapia, wc minnows, wc sunfish, some hikari cichlid gold, some hikari food sticks, and a few fish that were friends till they decided that they wanted something a little diff...i keep the temp. at 84-86f and i have been feeding them every day until about 1 month ago...with 1 fasting day a week...now i do a feed every 2 days on the whole tank with about 3-4 whole shrimp and 3-4 tails each...for tilapia i do something to the effect of 4 fillets for the whole tank...with some light snacks inbetween, when i have leftover minnows from fishing/ i catch some small fish for them...they wont eat and fruits or anything that i put in for the pacu...i think the key to my growth is the higher temp witch up'd their motablisms and an almost constant food supply...

The temp is definitely the reason these guys can continue to eat and thus grow like they are doing. So that you know, there is some debate as to if this is speeding up their life cycles significantly, and thus will cause them to not live as long. Just a thought... It sounds like you are giving them a great diet. With live, I'd deworm every once in a while, but that is a very well rounded diet!

i do throw in some prazi pro now and again...i have not herd the shorting of the life before...i guess i will find out if it is true or not... i feel they in the wild fish have food all around and they limit themselves and that is why you never see the monster monsters that you see in the wild...a fish that is properly cared for should reach the same size as its wild counter part...if you limit your fish you limit its potential..imo(not that you are, just in general)...at the rate these guys are going i will have the 5' fish that are seen sometimes in the wild and never in captivity...they are my favorite catfish of all time and that makes me feed them better then i feed myself...:grinno:...i feed alot of wild caught foods because they have all the vitimens that they would need and that they would get in the wild...the only incident that i have had with these cats was a few days ago they got to big of a snack(my friends fult, he wanted to see them eat some suckers after fishing) and the big one decided to:barf: then my middle sized one:barf:then my small one:barf:...that sucked... i watched them do it...it was like with people, the big one did it then the others seen/smelled it so they did it...it wasn't like the water was bad and pushed them to do it...they all did it within 1 min of the first one...i think the first one was freaked out from the light comming one witch triggered the vom-fest...my big one is jumpy...

Just a thought... a high temp could make them jumpy, and cause them to be more prone to vomiting as stress + over eating can lead to puking.
