heres a few pics of my pet largemouth ive had him/her for about a year hes a little over a foot long, this fish was caught in a casting net by my uncle while he was at a local lake catching minnows. i kept him/her in a 29gallon aslong as i could until he outgrew the tank and ive now moved it to a 55 gallon. i rasied him on night crawlers and crickets.

still not sure exactly what kind of bass it is allthough im 100% sure hes a largemouth, black stripes have yet to come in which is why im thinking its a white bass. anyways enjoy the pics its nothing special, i may have around $200.00 in this tank. it took me about a hr to set this tank up and its been cycled for 72hrs. fish seems to be doing great and feeding on the ruby minnows.he took out one gold fish today. out of ten minnows i have 6 left and out of 6 goldfish i have 5

if you guys have any ideas as to what kind of bass this is please let me know. and im also looking for a new tank mate, just not exactly sure what i want... its deff got to be something that will not fit into his mouth :WHOA:

lol, nice, i just caught 3, i had one last year, and let it go

why dont they like to show their patterns??

Its a hard Id till he gets some more color. I fish (A LOT) in black bass waters and they're silver when they're young too. I hate it when people tell ask me this so I apologize beforehand but You do realize that even if he's a striped white bass which doesn't get as big as the black bass at full grown he'll be way to big for a 55. I'd be willing to bet a full grown large mouth black bass could displace half the water in a 55 in one spirited lunge at a feeder.

maybe it being juvenile would have something to do with it.. i have no idea..

yea, i dont plan on keeping him in this 55 all his life. but its got way more room now that the 29 gallon is gone.

Looks like a largemouth bass. It is hard to tell though. Why is your water level so low?

at 3 inches long a common largemouth bass will show a black stripe down thier body. i don't know much about many other bass but it is almost a foot then it would have that stripe by now. i don't think it is a largemouth (and i have caught them all different sizes all my life) but if it acts like a largemouth any tank mate is prey. a had 2 until 8 inch bass killed the 10 inch bass in a rather brutal display of territory. bream is thier native food and a larger bream that won't fit his mouth might be tolerated, any other fish is toast. KEEP HIM FED or he will go crazy on anything he thinks he can fit in his face including your fingers. i'm sure you figured out they are as messy if not messier than oscars. get a huge filter and don't worry, the water stays cloudy and you cant clean it up. just test the ph, and nitrates for spikes.

i always keep him fed. i can usually tell when he gets hungry because he wil start following my hands around the tank and go back and forth in a almost spastic manner. ph is around 7-7.5 a buddy of mine is moving out of his dorm room this week and has a 6 inch florida gar that hes giving me. im thinking this would be an ok tank mate? if not ima toss him in the 29 gallon i have until i get the funds for a 250 i found

the bass is going to grow faster than the gar, and the bass will, should spit out the gar if it decides to eat it, or try. the gar should be safe in a 55. how often does the bass eat? in the wild they eat one large meal a week and nibble the rest. what your doing works cause he is alive but i am just curious. i never got mine to eat pellets, so i just kept a few shiners in there. you can get them by the pound here for pennies, and he ate those for a year.
