my large mouth and his new 55 gallon

have never kept bass however spend 80 percent of my spare time fishing for them. Have noticed smaller largemouths to be lighter in color however i think water clarity plays a huge role. it seems here in canada the clearer the water the lighter the fish. Aquarium water is much clearer than most natural bass habitats.

nice bass maybe fill up the tank a bit and i wouldnt feed it too many feeders that always leads to problems

i wouldnt worry about the color too much. bass are capable of drastice color changes within a few seconds right in front of your eyes. they can be olive green with the beautiful pattern on the side or they can be a silvery green color. i don't know what causes it but probably trying to blend in with the enviroment. colors will prob come out ince he feels mor comfortable in the tank. theres my little guy in my avatar eating a beta. and my guy was blind. still found food and was an aggressive little booger.

i agree with what has already been said, it is a normal largemouth bass and its coloration could be caused by bad water quality, bad diet, stress, or a combination of those things. how often do you do water changes and how much do you change? also try adding some s turcture like plants or driftwood to make him feel more comfortable
also, how long was the bass when you first got it?
