My Lima ShowelNose

beautiful lima man...i saw a picture of a 30inch lima that one of the MFK members posted...it was in a fibreglass tub. anyone here seen it? just prooves that limas r no small fry...

i have been having trouble in the tank with bacterial infection, see thread:

My lima shovelnose looked very sick so i moved it to a hospital tank and treated it with bacteria control meds.
There is blood showing at the base of all fins and under the mouth.
The whiskers were "soft and sloppy" and the front half of them fell off today.
And finally since today he has his mouth stuck open!

Putting him in the tank, got stuck in the net but was so lifeless i could hold him.

and today, the mouth open and you can see the red in the fins:

I have treated the whole 200G tank with bacteria control meds and im hoping no other fish will get sick...

however i will gladly listen to advice about the Lima, anyone had similar problems?

They get bigger than 12 inches,heres my baby,he is closing in on 14 inches....

Hope your lima gets better add some salt and mabye some Malefix hope it gets better

you mean those tetras that i posted over a year ago? yeah its been awhile since they got eaten


but thanks, the lima is better now, i treated with bacterial meds and she is back in the main tank, looks very healthy again.
