You say you're not a cichlid man, but with that size I can think of two perfect fish.. Electric Blue Rams, or any type of Victorian Shelly (little goby looking fish that cruise in and out of cool looking Shells. Both would make you a profit if bred, and fund some future projects.

hmm yeah, thats a though, but for now I prefer having this tank for display in my bathroom, if not for that purpose I would have it in other place and have a breeding fish.

I believe you mean tanganyikan shelldwellers like n. multifasciatus or l. occelatus, which reside in shells. Yes, they are very cool and were my aspiration for a while, until my LFS failed me and never shipped them in, and by then I had moved out of that phase, but I'm sure if I get the tank room, I can find some soon. ANd also, in reference to your breeding idea, you won't be making tons of bank in that business becuase the cost of maintenance for the fish and buying special fish and salts, etc to condition them to breed, and then buying special foods to feed the fry and support them till they're about an inch, will take more money than you could probably sell them for; but i'm not saying it's not worth it. Breeding usually only makes money if you have tons of breeding tanks and buy your food in bulk. (or if you're 16 and your parents still pay the electricity and water bills)

And Garniac, shell dwellers are an excellent choice (other than the fact that you'll need to get you're pH to 9.2, but it's not that hard with some special seachem salts you can buy for like $10.

just wanted to let you know that exodon's are not cichlids. They are a very very active predatory characin. They grow to 3-4" max length and are a shoaling fish. They love and or need to be stocked heavily.

exodons are cool, but they're so pricey! at least for me :/ Maybe if they were like $2 each I'd get them, but $15 each?! and they need to be in a colony (not just a pair/ not just a trio/ not even a herd -5- ) but a colony (10+)! That adds up.

$15/ea? thats crazy. usually they average closer to $7-8/ea, but youre still looking at $80 in livestock. IME it is well worth every penny.

thanks, I found that my white sponge is more powerful dealing with my bichirs poo, I leave my other 120 gall tank for a week or more and the water never clouds, but I think Its all depend on how many fishes in the tank, and how much wastes the fishes produce. But really, my white sponge is truly a magic, the greatest human invention

here some updates, just experimenting with a cheap blue light, but I dunno if I want it, the light can also be used in the tank, but I dont wanna freak out my fish, I guess I just put it on whenever I wanna enjoy the look of it..

so wot do you guys think??what type of light which could look cool??should I add a lid on it?so far I've been keeping the water a bit low, around 8" below the top of the tank, cause I dont want my fish to jump, and bichirs have the tendency to do so..

Yeah, put a lid on cause aren't they known to be jumpers and extreme escape artists? IDK, never had one myself (though it is in my future fishkeeping plans). From the pictures, I don't know about the blue light, but I've used blue lights on tanks before and I liked the effect, so maybe hte pictures aren't doing it justice. go with what feels right for you, i'm sure it'll be great.

thanks, I'm still planning to do something with it, I think I'm not gonna use any light at this moment, but still it looks empty, anyway its only a small tank, I hope I could make it wicked.
Perhaps doing something that is different,
