uh.... Kind of yeah.... Except when I purchased the fish. It was all black and grey barred with nice red in its throat and gills with a pretty prominent flower line. Looked to me ( inexperienced to say the least) to be a flowerhorn for sure. It was sold originally as a flowerhorn and sold again to me as a flowerhorn... I'm confused here... What's confusing you about this situation?

And I believe I asked what do I have here? Not what is it. As stated I know it's a Midevil. I know it must be assumed to be a hybrid. Don't care bout that. What do I have here was meant to ask what do you think he'll turn out like. Do you have any feedback for me along those lines?

BTW he has faded a lot again overnight. I'm thinking it won't be long before all the black is gone. You can see the " flowerline" better now though.

There's no way of determining what this fish will end up looking like, especially with its questionable history. Midas/Red Devils can look completely different as adults than what they looked like as juveniles. The peeling stage can leave them with a solid color, while others may retain some other color patterns. I've seen these fish go through changes in appearance even as larger adults. Diet also adds to their color. So basically it's just a waiting game. If it is some kind of FH, it could fade in other ways. You really can't pin point how it will turn out. Even if it were possible to see the parents, it still wouldn't guarantee how your fish will finally look. Just feed him quality food, keep up the water changes, and let him do the rest. Depending on its final size, you may need a larger tank in the future. Good luck and enjoy your pet!

Very Nice markings! He look's mostly like a midas at this time. Like others said cant ever be sure unless purchased from Jeff Rapps or other reliable sources. Very nice! Other than the black markings he looks just like my female midas at that size. I will post some pics up soon. First day on the site!

This fish will be going into a 90 by himself, but I'm not setting that tank up until after I get moved in a few months. He should be fine for that long in the 56 I would think. He's nowhere near too large for it right now. Although its becoming difficult to clean the tank without him attacking and biting me. Lol. Angry little guy. If I had to come up with one word to describe him I think it would probably be cocky.
