My mixture of fishes

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Here are some of my fish. Aequidens Rivulatus (about 15sm.) and Astronotus Ocellatus (about 20sm.). And my new tank 140x40x60 (330 l.).
The last picture is of the cat that saved the lives of all my fish. As I was draining the water, I was in the bathroom to clean the filters. Sometime the cat came to me, it started to be very alarming, and it ran away. I went to see what was going on, and ... There were 2-3 sm. of water in the tank... The fish, now are fine. :)

Today my female GT have laid eggs. For now only she is guarding them. This is the first time any of my GTs are laying eggs. Fingers crossed. 20171113_193824.jpg

Congratulations on the eggs. Your fish look good.
When the green terrors grow large, I think you will have issues keeping any other fish in a 90 gallon 4' tank with them. The size does not allow for much territory or for other fish to run away. I know you said you planned to give away all the other fish except the parrots and terrors- but now you have an Oscar as well. An Oscar, pair of green terrors, and blood parrots, will eventually be too many fish for this size tank. I think the Oscar alone with one (not pair) green terror and one blood parrot would be better in the long run.
You have some time before the fish grow, just wanted to make you aware of this.

Your recomendation for long run stoking sounds good! I'll do it. :)

About the GTs eggs, I have a question. Is it normal only the female to protect the eggs, without a male? And which eggs are fertile, the white or the sort of transparent?

In my experience you can only have one pair of terrors in a 4' tank and that is really pushing it. I'll be upgrading mine to at least a 6' soon.

The fertilized eggs will start tan and go clear with a black spot. Here is a picture of fertilized eggs my female was guarding. And yes. Just the female guards. My male has never been very involved beyond the initial spawn. IMG_1756.PNG

I think the tank is barely big enough for either a lone Oscar or 1 pair of green terrors.
Don't mean to be negative but I see trouble ahead.
