I have done it all in my UNMODIFIED Cherokee - you name it, I've done it, and this includes going airborne, going at high speeds on the beach, sand that you sink in if you walk on it, mud, ponds, you name it. The Subaru just doesn't have the capacity that the Cherokee or your Patrol has.

How is the Patrol on gas, and is it a TRUE 4 wD, or does one front/one back get power at one time?

I think a Subaru would surprise you. I have had all kinds of jeeps and I am going to buy a Subaru next. We just had a bunch of snow(1'+) a few weeks ago and I was driving a friends wrx. I only slid like twice and I was beating on it. And about going fast, jumping and all that noise... you know almost all of Subaru's products are rally tested, right? To the point that our jeeps almost can't compare, unless you are talking about ground clearance and slow crawling in 4WL. I know what happens to Jeeps when they go fast... they flip over. I still love my Jeep though.

Greenterra, I also have a Nissan truck and a Subaru wagon. :D 1998 Nissan Frontier 4x4 that does the rock crawling and heavy lifting and a 2005 Subaru Legacy 2.5 GT wagon that carves the corners.

Umm,Ive got a 2002 Chevy Avalanche........It likes mud.......

and if it gets stuck in the mud I can push the onstar button.....

havn't had to yet....

I agree in a sense. I know someone who has not a subaru but a audtt tt and AWD pwns part time 4x4 street driving. Sure my jeep has clearance but not much more.
