It's a blast. I take it to the sand dunes and launch it.
Right now its under the knife for an axle swap.

silly rabbit... 2wd is for the street

Actually, a lot of the desert racing trucks are 2wd, along with almost every sand rail

I know what happens to Jeeps when they go fast... they flip over.

One word..... Jeepspeed

That thing is about to flip over when it lands. LOL J/K

That thing is cool, but if it were between that and lets say a STI Rally car (granted the ground clearance thing makes a difference) I would go with the rally.

Don't get me wrong, I love Jeeps (I used to have that same one as the picture you posted, minus the pre runner suspension, now I have a 99' 4 door), but for high speed off-roading Subaru takes the cake.

And about the 2wd thing. I just said that becuase of the cars mentioned (grand am, skylark fwd... so on) Even still the vehicles you mentioned with 2wd are no where near stock vehicles (desrert racers with 30"+ suspension travel and sandrails are well... a motor with a couple of metal pipes holding on some wheels). My chevy caprice would be a bad ass desert racer with 30" of travel.

Sammies are great rock crawlers! I see modified Samurais on the Rubicon all the time. They are basically a miniature Jeep CJ, right down to the leaf-sprung front and rear solid axles. They even run a Jeep 5 by 5.5" lug pattern. Given their light weight (2,200 lbs), they do just fine w/ the stock 66hp 1.3l 4-banger and modified 4:1 (or 5:1, I can't recall the exact ratio) transfer cases. I've always wanted to do a Sammy project, but my wife wouldn't let me. :(

The Suzukis are pretty much enjoyed over here too but they are called Suzuki Sierra and vitara.Great for rock work and very nimble as to where they go.
For some reason I can't see your samurai pic but I can see the jeep.Nice air I might add. When I was comparing The Subaru to the Cheroke I am talking Road Registered Vehicles. Not trailer toys or sand rails. That's a whole new ballgame. We get your Cheroke here in Aus to by the way.I don't know what process you go through over there but we have to get modifications approved and complied here for street drivers.I do know that 2Wd's can go on sand.I've been there too previously.lol:naughty:
These are all running Boxer engines.

Nice! What's in them?

I'm an air-cooled VW guy too, although none of mine were off-roaders. I've owned a 1970 bug, 1965 Karmann-Ghia, 1972 bus, and my current 1969 Karmann-Ghia, which is running a 2110 cc Type I motor w/ dual Weber 44 IDFs.

In the U.S. we have inspections, most states have emissions/smog tests, and of course cops usually no what's not street legal but it's pretty free to mod over here.

Here they can give you a hard time just for tyre size.It can suck when they pull you up,fine you, give you a machinery ticket and then you have to have your whole car inspected again by Mainroads.
