My monos angels com tank

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
I would just like to point out that arapaimag has numerous adult monos in his 50,000 gallon tank in pure freshwater, which are thriving. No one questions his fish choice and care. Yet someone posts this, and all the feedback is negative. Not taking sides, just making a point

And by his collection i'm sure he'll take care of them. Agin i'm not saying you cant think it's wrong. Just try to enjoy his pictures and fellowship. He has alot of stuff we'll never see over here (US) With out member's like him and other's to share. :)

Please. Anyone with a lot of money can have a huge collection of fish - it doesn't mean that they're healthy.

He's not taking care of them - if he was, he would have done some research. As anyone should do for any pet, no matter how experienced they think they are.

Can someone show me pics of a Mono that could not live in his tank for life?

Proven fact fish do NOT get as big in captivity as they do in the wild.

I've asked numerous times on this site and haven't found anyone that has one over 10 inches tall. Mine are about 8 and close to that many years old.

Thats not the point - we're saying that these fish (well most of them) are meant to be in brackish water (or even marine), while the rest of the fish are meant to be in freshwater.

Proven fact? Excuse me??? Please show me where this proven fact has been documented! There is absolutely no reason a fish in captivity that is housed & fed properly, shouldn't reach their wild counterpart's size or larger, since they have no enemies or lack of food.

I agree. Plus, many fish live much longer in aquaria than they would in the wild. For exsmple, many freshwater killies that live for a year in the wild before their habitats dry up are able to live 2-3 yrs in aquaria.
