My Monster Gold Fish...

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Beautiful! I don't get visits from frogs cuz mine is an above ground and my dogs scare off any raccoons and possums...I think. I've always wondered how fancy Goldfish would fair in a pond. You're looks great! But you said you bring them in for the winter, right? Ever thought about trying to leave them out? Just curious cuz I've always heard that Goldfish and Koi can survive very cold (compared to SoCal) winters.

Thanks Ben.. yes 8 years ago we tried to leave them out..we bought one of the warmers that float on the top of the water preventing ice from forming completly over the top,... need at least a hole on top for air etc.. but the darn thing was not trust worthy ... normally if i had a pond dug that was at least 4 feet deep they could stay out during winter.. they just lower their metabolism and hang out at the very bottom... but this small pond gets about 4 feet of snow on top... no way could they breathe... so to make a long story short if my pond was deeper and wider... yes they would be fine...

Excellent, They look great, never actually really seen grown goldfish.
