My most intense rescue ever: House Gecko on a glue trap

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Knifegill - I did that, but unfortunetaly he was very, very stuck, in fact his skin was flush against the glue paper, so soaking him wouldn't have reached his legs. Also, at that point, he could barely lift his head from exhaustion, and I was afriad that soaking him would drown him.
I see! Poor guy. Good save.

Here are pictures of him during various stages of the rescue. This happened over about 45 minutes to an hour.

After seeing those pics I know that the people at that LFS are total ***holes.

But nice save!

congrats, I have heard that vinegar dissolves the glue, maybe give that a shot next time.

Also, the darkening color could also be due to stress, geckos are usually very easy to over stress and kill so I would set up a nice quarantine enclosure for him and leave him be for a few days. No more pictures or handling.

And here he is NOW:D

When I picked up the hide box to check on him (he can't climb yet, so I put in a hide box) he jumped up on my hand and just sat there staring at me:D

lol Well of course he was stressed, he spent over 24 hours stuck to a glue trap and then over an hour being removed. But he didn't darken until he was over a dark surface. Oh well. I wasn't planning to handle him anyways, I don't handle any of my small Lizards except when moving to different enclosures. The pictures here were all taken as I was extracting him and/or moving him to his new enclosure. I'm not playing with him;)
