Not bad, I would have totally put trophs in there.

I like your rocks. More light and a background would make it look better IMO. I would like to see your livestock. Throw them some food and snap some shots!

I bet this thread will get moved to the African Media Lounge.

I was thinking of getting a fixture with 1 actinic bulb and 1 10,000k bulb.
As for the background, Im not sure what else could be done. This thread is not intended to be geared towards African Cichlids. It is about the set up of my new tank. So I hope it is not moved!

Rocks and Sand are amazing, you should get a background and hide the heaters...

What would you suggest I do specifically?

very nice, it has an almost epic look

Thank you very much!

if your keeping the smaller light fixture you could move the heaters to the outside were the light doesn't shine much. but i like it with out a background. Just remember you are the one that looks at the tank everyday.

I will be upgrading the lighting in the near future. I wish I could hide the heaters a bit more, but there's no space behind the rock...Yet the fish mange to hide there all day...

I too like the black background. I'm not sure what the other members are getting at? 3D background?? Cheesy poster?? I'm not really sure.

The people who have seen my tank in person say they love the painted background. Adds a lot depth to the tank. Those same people have also informed me they don't like the lighting. I thought the spot light would make the tank seem a bit more peaceful and unique; adding all those extra shadows. I still think it does but I'm very curious to see what the tank would look like with 1 actinic bulb and 1 10,000K bulb in a larger fixture.
