My original comment said something about a background. Now that I look at your original pictures, I see that it was painted black. I am not sure what I was thinking??

The new lights make a big difference. It looks good.

Lol!!! ya.. I was wondering...

Thank you!

Wow, huge difference in lighting.
I'd paint that intake black and more effort in hiding those heaters.
4 to 6" off the side pane glass sides.

Agreed with the heater idea. Even with the new lights, which look super stunner compared to the old btw :headbang2 , the back corners are still dark. Could you possibly move them closer to the side panes where the darkness could be used to your advantage? That should allow you to not have them so far down, thus giving you easier access.

I really like the scaping. The little hills that are visible in the sand from the front of the tank look awesome.

As far as painting your Rena (I am right about that? Rena loves that ugly blue lol) intake, just do a little google searching for non toxic paint that will last under water. There is always the choice of getting glass intake. I think they have a few at www.GreenLeafAquarium.com used for being discreet in a planted show tank.

Hope this helps. Looks great btw, can't wait to see pics with the little guys in there!

You cannot see it but behind the rock there is little to no space. I was only able to shove the heater so far down. This also goes for the side panels.

My only resort is to rearrange the rock, to allow enough space to slip the heater down more. I am hesitant to do this because of 3 reasons.

1. I like my rock arrangement
2. I don't want the catfish to lay on it, even though both heaters have guards.
3. I want to have access to the dial.

I will try to get some pics of the fish soon. Thank you.
