My new 12 inch Red Aro with discus and Flagtail

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
It would depend on your climate and the location and size of the pond. If it is an above ground tub in full sun I'd think (guessing!) you might want to provide some shade for it, but a large in-ground pool/pond/tub would be better insulated against fluctuating air temperatures.

Very nice red. I'd say he's doing pretty good in terms of development. Color is pretty good considering lot of ppl get "orange" reds. Cheek development is average but the aro has a nice blue base and good shine.

As a comparison, here is my blood red at 12''

Very nice red! I assume that is with natural lighting? is there any recomendations for that redness or is it more of a genetic thing. Where is your red from?

I will look into building the pond do you know if there are special care required for building a concrete pond? I have heard that they need a scrub a couple times a year?? I would go for it with intentions of trying some breeding as I have quite a few Aros.

Thanks yes under natural lighting, I don't tan my fish unfortunately. My fish is from indonesia. How about yours? I like the shine on your fish. I think dark base usually means that the fish will turn out real nice later.

in reference to the shine, in the foto you sent do you use uv tubes? I just have low powered Marineland leds. Maybe the tubes for plants bring out more shine or color? Also that should give it somewhat of a tan?
