There's a 1/32" gap between the tank and stand in a couple places, so I'm thinking I need to plane it down.
Would a rubber strip on the top of the stand help?
Not the greatest picture, but it's looking good so far apart from that.

Great tank, nice job on the stand! What are you going to be stocking it with?

Initially:
8" delhezi
7" ornate
2x 6.5" senegals (one albino)
3x 12" ropefish
6x 3.5" congo tetra

Later on:
2-3 more ropefish
5-10 more congo tetras
maybe butterfly fish
1-2 Ctenopoma acutirostre

I don't think it would be a problem. It's easier than planing it all down too. Is the gap noticeable? If it's a 1/32", I'd leave it or try and trim around it to hide the gap if it bothered me enough....or use rubber strip.

Stack two 1/2" exercise mat strips. You can purchase them at Home Depot.

I have the same tank with 1/2" blue foam under it, but the foam is still not compressing much at all (even after 3 years of set up). You would be surprised at how low a force is being exerted by each 1" of frame on the stand (even with a 150G Tall). The blue foam is too stiff and not resilient. When I tear down the tank, I'll replace the blue foam with the 1" of exercise mat.

I have a 125G and 75G tank with the exercise foam under them and that works great. The 125G tank has compressed the foam ~ 20% to help compensate for the gaps and twists. The compression rate for the exercise mat is perfect for most large glass tanks (75G and above).

The 75G only has a single 1/2" strip of exercise mat, and after four years, you can see how much it has compressed to compensate for the sagging stand (cheap particle board stand).

Where exactly are the gaps?
Could it just be the stand out of square?
Is the tank bowed a little?

I'm pretty sure the surface of the stand isn't perfect. I can't tell if the tank is bowed or not.
I want to do some kind of foam or rubber, but I'm not sure it'll make the slightest difference if it's not thick, and I only have about a quarter inch before the frame sticks up above the trim.
