To cover up the overflow you can get a sheet of thin black acrylic cut to cover the side of the overflow. This way it's removable and will cover up the plumbing. The water between the glass and acrylic will hold it in place.

Just a quick question, is there a reason why your making the canopy so tall?

So that I can trim it the same way the stand is trimmed and it won't look ridiculous. I also want plenty of room, and I feel like having the top above eye level will give it a more "monster" feel.
