I can't wait to see what your plans are for the filter? Ultima 2 with 2" lines? Are you going to flow the tank like a river one side for the intake to the filter and the other side of the tank the return? Will you use a trickle system for water changes? or just change the water when you back flush the filter? No hurry on answers, I can wait for the pics
ONly update this weekend is that I have decided to ditch the fiberglass panels on inside of the "Tunnel" walls and just line them with visqueen (Plastic sheeting).
This will be cheaper, easier, and quicker.
Looking into ordering the plumbing parts in the next few days.
I have also decided to use LED flood lights. Going to start out with 3 and if needed I can always add more.
Hey VL, are you going to run a UV unit on this tank?
I am not sure you had one on the 1500 but it may be worth adding, Ultima also make some really effecient units.
I am right that you are going to run an Ultima 6000 on this baby?
GL with the leak test.
Yeah, Ultima II 6000 powered by two Reeflo barracuda pumps pushing about 6000 GPH through a 2" valve.
The layout will be very mcuh like a river. I will have a 1" top spray bar near the intake side just to keep the floating food away from the intake size and to add some surface aggitation. Then the opposite end of the tank will be the remaining 1.5" outlet near the middle and/or bottom of the tank to push the water back to the intake side.
Not planning on a UV, never used them and at this point looking to save as much money as possible. lol
I am still planning on using the continuous fill/drain at this point. However, that may change after I see how often back flushing is needed.
Wow. Just..... Wow. Amazing build. Can't wait to see it finished. First time I've been on MFK in months and I sat here for an hour just reading about your build.
Good luck. Hope there aren't any leaks. Its amazing how fast you get your tanks built... I'm in negotiations to buy a house with a basement right now. Might re-pique my interest for a DIY build...
