I went to Petsmart today to check out what they have (i love their 14 day guarantee BTW). Well, it turns out that they had some interesting looking cichlids, i should have wrote down the names but totally was not thinking (due to excitement of course). Here is the pic of the smaller one, she's about 3/4 of an inch. To those experts, an ID would be nice!

Thanks for looking

Great looking fish . Sand looks great to

Thank you, i was wondering how much and often to feed these guys? The one pictured is about 3/4 of an intch, and the other one is about 3 inches. I have medium sized pellets, so i can crush them up for the little guy. I just dont know how many pellets to feed them, the container says i should be feeding them several times a day. That IMO seems a bit absurd.

Also, is it normal for the two new fish to be swimming up and down against the glass? They've been doing it for the past day and a half. I'm told that it is because they've not yet adjusted to the new tank; it will take 1 1/2 to 2 weeks.

Thanks for the input guys

some sort of african cichlid. i don't know much about africans. nice fish though. don't listen to anyone else. if you want something buy it. i've purchsed plenty of things animals, fish, ect i knew nothing about. you already know its a cichlid so it won't be to difficult to take care of.

Does your fish look like this - if not click on top of link where it saids cichlids maybe its listed

I feed my fish only once a day but many feed twice . Swimming up and down like they want to escape if thats the type of thing he is doing ends after few days, weeks if that long

looks like some sort of mbuna, if so whtch what you feed it as high protein foods can cause bloat, bloat = very ill or even dead fish.

I feed mine Cichlid gold pellets.

Africans are great :headbang2

it is normal for the fish to be swimming up and down, they are getting use to there new home....nice pick up to. what else do you have in the tank?

Yes it does look exactly like that fish in the link above.

Currently, i have two cichlids, i'll get a picture of the other new one up soon. I also have a molly in there which surprisingly is doing well with them.

Lol its best to know what your buying if nothing else you have to know size it gets to in his case he got lucky as its not a big cichlid and he can easily add equally agressive cichlids.
