Omg you bought a fish you have to keep alive for 10 years for $3.89!? What a deal! Good idea on buying a fish you know nothing about also. A+++ move!

....relax man

Lol its best to know what your buying if nothing else you have to know size it gets to in his case he got lucky as its not a big cichlid and he can easily add equally agressive cichlids.

no kidding. i'm pretty sure he was asking a question. i don't think he or anyone else wants to be preached to or criticized. unfortunetley you can't hear sarcasm through typed writing.

You guys are right, i will do my research on the species prior to purchasing my future fish. Thanks for your comments.

Here is the other one i picked up, like i said above, i believe it is an Pseudotropheus Zebra.

Sorry for the bad quality picture, im using my phone (I'm out of AA batteries for my camera).

Sort of looks like a Pseudotropheus lombardi (don't know if I spell that correctly), known as a Kenyi. The bars look too numerous and narrow to be one of those, but maybe they are that why when tiny, not sure though. If that's what they are, they are very nasty fish prone to killing others that can't defend themselves. They are hyper quick when they attack and have sharp little teeth. I had some over 10 years ago, but none that small. They like hard akaline (pH 8.2 would work) water best. Give them cichlid flakes and pellets, also give some veggie matter, such as flakes enhanced with spirulina.

They are moothbreeders, dominate males turn yellow when sexually mature. It is better to have 1 male per 3-5 females, rival males might try taking each other out.

Like I said, I don't know if that's a Kenyi, but even if it isn't, it looks closely related enough that most of the info I gave would still apply to some extent.

I see, they've been doing well with my molly so far. They even eat together...
